The role (Senior) Product Manager (Researcher Home) enables Springer Nature to help SN authors focus on their priorities by building a unique product that supports authors by serving highly personalised relevant guidance, including insights exclusive to Researcher Home. Working closely with the Group Product Manager for Researcher Home, and our internal development teams, the role will grow and better integrate Springer Nature's existing offer on Researcher Home, to build and strengthen our relationships with our authors. Success will be measured by our impact on customer loyalty and core publishing KPIs (e.g. the number of submissions).
Core Responsibilities
  • Manages a stream within the SN Researcher Home product
  • Close working relationship with the Group Product Manager (Researcher Home) and the Researcher Home team to deliver overall success.
  • Embeds within internal development teams to deliver core user journeys and deep integration with other parts of the platform
  • Ensures that Researcher Home iteratively uses data-driven use cases to create a best-in-class customer experience together with the UX and CX teams at Springer Nature.
  • Works proactively and independently with stakeholders, partners and other Product Managers to create, own and execute a product strategy that blends commercial, technical and researcher needs.
  • Sponsors and applies original customer research and data insights to shape the product, where applicable.
  • Works with Product leadership to ensure that managed products align with the company's product portfolio and strategy.
  • Represent the Product Management discipline internally and externally for Springer Nature, ensuring that SN keeps up-to-date with the latest product management practices.
Core experience, skills and qualifications
  • Demonstrable experience in managing consumer-facing products (academic publishing experience valuable, but not essential)
  • Experience in delivering accessible data visualisation products (valuable, but not essential)
  • Demonstrable experience in Product Management, Agile methodologies, OKRs, rapid prototyping and working with full-stack squads to deliver relevant customer products.
  • Experience in working collaboratively with third parties and internal teams to deliver end-to-end value
  • Experience working in fast-paced organisations, managing uncertainty and balancing thinking strategically but also focusing on the detail to deliver tangible customer value
  • Proven success in meeting product goals including quantitative, qualitative and commercial measures.
  • User-focused, expert at using data and customer research to drive product strategy.
  • Demonstrable experience in Agile working within software development teams and influencing them to improve technical capabilities.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills, and facilitating timely decision-making.
  • University education in a relevant area or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Demonstrable experience managing products at different stages of the product lifecycle, from inception to retirement.
What you will be doing
0-3 Months
  • Understand Springer Nature authors and their needs
  • Build a strong relationship with SN internal (digital, publishing and editorial) teams
  • Host product inception and confirm the initial roadmap
  • Select the first customer journeys for optimisation and delivering value
3-12 Months
  • Enhance the current experience by launching new valuable features
  • Focus internal development effort on priority integrations
  • In collaboration with the user research and engagement teams, refine the model of community user needs
  • Refine roadmap in the light of development and research experience
  • Implement loyalty metrics and funnels for key journeys
12 Months on
  • Deepen the integration of Research Impacts with the rest of the SN core platforms.
  • Continuously deliver customer and business value
  • Articulate customer value through quantitative and qualitative reporting
