Midlothian Council invites applications for the role of ‘Senior Consultant Engineer ’ working as part of Road services based in Midlothian House Dalkeith.

This role primarily will be engaged in the design, consultation, and delivery of flood risk management plans for both proactive and reactive situations. An experienced roads Engineer with diversified and in-depth knowledge and experience of Flood Risk management you will join a diverse team delivering variety of roads projects to include construction, road safety and planning approvals often working collaboratively over various projects with both internal and external colleagues. Currently we are working on exciting projects such as urbanisation of routes, new carriageway construction, active travel to new school campus’s and circa RCC developments. All of which require flood risk management oversight and guidance.

Working across sections, experience of being a statutory consultee within planning process would be advantageous as would experience of fund Bidding.

Jobholders must hold a Degree in Civil Engineering and Full Chartered Civil Engineer status and have previous experience in Highway design, asset management and roads maintenance experience along with experience in the design of road safety and traffic management schemes.

Previous experience in the use of Microsoft Office, or similar software packages, together with knowledge of relevant quality assurance systems is also essential.

Experience of staff management in desirable.

Drivers Licence advantageous.

Full Time - Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £44,.67 per annum.

Compliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard.
