Catering Assistant

Lancashire County Council provide catering services to over 500 schools across Lancashire, serving over 60,000 school meals per day and we are looking for committed individuals to join the service.


You will work as part of a team within St Mary's High School providing high quality, healthy, balanced meals for school children.
Key responsibilities:


• Assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverages
• Clean all equipment and catering areas


What we are looking for:
 Ability to work as part of a team
 Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative
 Good customer care skills
 Previous catering and food preparation experience would be desirable


Working Hours/Days:
 Monday to Friday 6 hours per day – 30 hours per week.
 Term time only
 

Scope of Work
Role holders will undertake a number of routine procedures and use associated tools and equipment. Some personal initiative may be required.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities
 Observes personal duty of care in relation to service users or equipment or resources used in the course of work.
 Role holders may be required to make minor decisions by selecting from a choice of options or by identifying straightforward solutions to simple problems.
 Role holders may be required to determine the sequence and timing of own job or that of others.
 Personal care tasks, such as bathing, toileting and feeding clients or accompanying passengers who have known medical and / or behavioural conditions.

Skills, knowledge and experience
 Little, or no, prior experience is required. Role holders will need to gain an understanding of a limited number of routine procedures that could be gained through a short induction period or on the job training or instruction. 
 Ability to work as a member of a team.
 Role holders will either need previous relevant experience or specific training in the job tasks.
Performance Indicators
 Completion of tasks to required standards and deadlines.
