HHELC is a school based in Nottingham City which caters for pupils and young people with a range of medical or mental health needs. The school is located on four sites.
We want all of our children and young people to be confident, happy individuals capable of fulfilling both academic and personal success. We believe that every pupil should feel valued and encouraged to achieve the very best they can and we are committed to working with a range of professionals as well as parents/carers to achieve our aims.
The Sherwood Education Centre (Sherwood Pathways) is a short-term provision which is based on Perry Road, Nottingham. We teach pupils who have experienced a wide range of anxiety-related traumas, and are unable to successfully attend their own school. Some of our pupils may have been permanently excluded or are close to this and Sherwood Pathways can provide a ‘reset’ or ‘circuit break’, supporting pupils to re-engage positively with school routines and learning, before ultimately reintegrating back to their own school or a more appropriate school setting. Teaching takes place in the Sherwood Education Centre, in small classes, as well as occasionally in pupils’ homes and staff sometimes work in schools, supporting transition into or out of HHELC, therefore the successful candidate will need a full, clean driving licence and access to a car.
We are looking for a Primary Teacher who:
Has recent KS 1/EYFS teaching experience in mainstream settings Has experience of teaching across the primary age range Is willing to take risks and try something new whilst maintaining the school’s vision and values Has excellent subject and curriculum knowledge, including the teaching of phonics Is able to work autonomously: confident in curriculum design and planning Can manage and support pupils with a wide range of behaviours, aiming to enable them to regulate their own behaviours so they can participate with and develop their learning Has excellent interpersonal skills and can work well in a small team Is a creative practitioner who has high expectations and a commitment to supporting and challenging pupils to achieve their potential Is able to develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with all stakeholders Understands and has experience of working with pupils with a wide range of individual needs Can share expertise in a subject and/or phase and play a significant part in the primary curriculum team Is a flexible, enthusiastic teacher, who is able to: adapt quickly, to ’think on their feet’, act with integrity and who has a sense of humour Is passionate and excited about the opportunity to teach in our primary site and is committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for all of our pupilsWe can offer:
