Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to have a meaningful impact on local climate change mitigation and adaptation by contributing to the development of East Dunbartonshire Council’s wide range of sustainability work.

The role will have a particular focus on the development of the Council’s new Climate Action Plan in addition to assessing the environmental impacts of proposed plans and strategies.

The post involves working closely with internal and external partners to ensure that the Council’s commitment to sustainability and climate change is reflected in its policies and activities. Using your specialist knowledge, you will provide advice and guidance on sustainability and climate change, and help to ensure that the Council meets its statutory responsibilities in relation to climate change and strategic environmental assessments.

You’ll have a good knowledge of climate change and environmental issues together with the ability to think in strategic and policy terms and develop innovative solutions to challenging problems. Your expertise will be complemented by a degree in a relevant subject.
