Technical Manager

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Design and Technical Manager to oversee the design and build process for a 300 acre site. This key role ensures that the project delivers on its strategic outcomes while complying with all legislative regulatory and health and safety obligations. The successful candidate will provide essential technical input in areas such as design feasibility value engineering sustainability and energy strategy. You will work closely with internal teams and external subcontractors managing the production and review of design information throughout both the preconstruction and construction phases.
As the Design and Technical Manager you will lead the development and management of the design and preconstruction programme. This includes ensuring design feasibility overseeing value engineering exercises planning surveys and integrating sustainability and energy strategies into the project. You will also be responsible for commissioning a range of preconstruction reports such as Arboriculture Archaeological Acoustic and Ecological assessments to support the project s progress.
Effective communication and coordination are central to this role. You will organise and chair regular Design Team Meetings (DTM) and Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Client Design meetings ensuring that design milestones are met and any changes or issues are addressed promptly. You will ensure that all design and contractual standards are adhered to and that the relevant documentation are issued.
A key focus of this role will be on sustainability and energy efficiency. You will lead the development of a robust energy strategy including overseeing preassessment energy strategies (BREEAM) and ensuring that all design stages comply with sustainability goals.
In terms of regulatory compliance you will manage all statutory applications and ensure the project meets key legislative standards including those related to water highways environment and building regulations.
To succeed in this role you should have a strong background in managing complex construction projects with expertise in design feasibility and sustainability strategies. Experience in ensuring regulatory compliance and managing technical certifications is essential. Strong project management skills coupled with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders will be critical to ensuring the smooth delivery of this scheme.
