The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week). Part-time hours will be pro-rated accordingly.

Hourly rate of pay: £16.37 - £17.78

Temporary until 31st March .
Days and Hours of Work:
Friday, 14:00-17:00

Tranent Library is a popular safe space within the local community and attracts a significant number of unaccompanied children and young people outside of school hours. We are looking for 2 youth workers with experience of engaging with children and young people to develop activities aligning with their interests. The children and young people attending the library range in age from P3/4 to S1/2 and so the successful candidates will have experience in engaging with and supporting a wide range of ages.

Library staff have developed positive relationships with the young people attending the library and will support the successful candidates to develop their own relationships initially but the successful candidates should be able to work on their own initiative.

Job Details

To work as a group worker in youth work activities delivered by the Connected Communities Service.

To make contact and develop constructive relationships with young people with a view to encouraging them to participate actively in a range of activities in a club, group or outreach setting.

To assist in identifying young people’s needs and to offer appropriate advice or actions.
