Reporting to the Material Manager in R&D, your role will be to support the Global Technology Team to execute R&D projects for the business worldwide and maintain the current product portfolio.   

Your duties will include but are not limited to:  

  • Conduct/participate in research projects and experiments for CPI’s materials to improve product performance, solve processing problems, support operations and supply chain, and support the commercial efforts of the application engineering and field sales teams.   

  • Record results and contribute to the production of complex reports with recommendations and conclusions for use by engineering team. Produce reports as required.  

  • Participate in  major projects and manage projects as assigned. Ensure progress is monitored and maintained to meet targets and regularly update stakeholders.  

  • Develop, operate and perform routine maintenance on laboratory/ testing equipment. 

  • Develop and maintain technical expertise on advances and innovations in research and science in the support of the CPI product lines.  

  • Support the technical development of others both within and outside of the Global Technology. 

As a member of the Engineering team you need to work and communicate with the rest of the CPI staff, be a self starter and self motivator who is able to plan ahead, prioritise tasks and co-ordinate with others in the Engineering, Sales and Production Teams. 

Qualified to degree level, ideally in Material Science or Engineering with two years' work experience in a similar role. Experience of sample preparation for and carrying out of tests such as tensile testing, measurement of specific gravity and tribological testing would be beneficial although specific training will be given.
