Childcare Manager, Gaelic, Sgoil Araich an Tairbeart

The post holder will be required to manage the nursery and support the Early Years Manager to take forward tasks outlined within the Early Years Action Plan. Duties will include: managing staff including appraisals, training needs, disciplinary and grievance matters, recruitment and selection and annual leave; supporting staff to plan and deliver a curriculum through the medium of Gaelic which meets individual children’s needs; developing and delivering training to early years staff; and building links between Nursery and School to ensure smooth transitions.

You must have knowledge and understanding of the Curriculum for Excellence, How Good is our Early Learning & Childcare, National Care Standards, Building the Ambition and My World Outdoors. The ability to plan and implement a curriculum through short, medium and long term planning is essential.

It is essential that you hold a qualification that meets the requirements for the SSSC for practitioner/managers, or you must be willing to gain an appropriate qualification. You must also hold a full driving licence and have access to a car.

Fluency in Gaelic is essential.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.

Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade.
