Assistant SENCO

We are looking for an Assistant SENDCo, to work within the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Team for the United Schools Federation.
The post is fixed term pending a permanent appointment, part time; hours per day; three days per week. The actual days worked can be discussed.
Although based at our St Michaels Primary School, we are looking for someone able to split their time working across both our St Michaels Primary and Stokeinteignhead Primary Schools. (Both Schools are located in Newton Abbot.)
We are looking for a colleague, ideally with a background in education and administration, who has experience of the Early Help process, including administration and face-to-face meetings with parents and professionals.
Your role will involve:
• Dealing with sensitive / confidential information
• Liaising tactfully with parents/carers in a confident and empathetic manner
• Building relationships with families
Special Educational Needs training or experience dealing with disabilities/behavioural issues and additional needs, is preferred. We require a colleague who has experience of working with outside agencies, professionals and specialists. ICT skills are essential, as you would be required to produce reports and frequently communicate by email. You should have a good telephone manner and courteous communication skills.
A minimum qualification of GCSE in Maths and English is required. Experience of working in a classroom situation and/or a qualification as a Teaching Assistant, NVQ2 or NVQ3 would be preferable.
