What you'll do

As a Senior Location Planner at Sainsbury's, you will be responsible for combining your expertise in Location Planning and geographical knowledge with commercial understanding to provide credible recommendations that influence and inform decisions across the business. You will set the strategy for assigned regions, considering both new space requirements and the utilisation of existing space, and utilise your strong engagement skills to achieve buy-in from stakeholders. Your role will involve prioritising and managing location planning requirements, maintaining the network plan and store strategy, and producing accurate sales forecasts for new stores and trade transfers. In addition, you will be accountable for providing Location Planning advice and input for your regions, presenting forecast rationale and strategic recommendations in relevant governance forums, and challenging proposals that do not align with the network plan or strategic interests of the company. Collaboration with Retail and Property Development teams, staying knowledgeable about the retail landscape and competitors, leading improvements in methodology and processes, and contributing to the development of the wider team will be integral to your role as a Senior Location Planner.

Who you are

As a Senior Location Planner, you are a highly skilled and strategic professional with expertise in location planning, geographical knowledge, and commercial understanding. With your ability to integrate quantitative and qualitative information, you make credible recommendations that influence and inform decisions taken across the business. Your strong analytical skills, combined with your proficiency in GIS, enable you to accurately forecast sales for new stores, extensions, and trade transfers. You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels and present strategic recommendations clearly. With your willingness to challenge accepted practises and processes, you drive improvements in methodology and processes, contributing to the success of the wider team and the achievement of business goals.
