East Lothian Council are recruiting a Trainee Accountant to progress through the CIPFA Accountants and Finance Business Partner Scheme to the level of a CIPFA qualified Finance Business Partner. Salary progression will be based on study success gauged by examination and continuous assessment; and participation in the Council's Corporate Performance Review and Development Scheme. Please refer to the attached document 'CIPFA PAQ Accountants & Finance Business Partner Scheme' for full details.

Applicants should hold a cognate degree level qualification (i.e. Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Statistics etc)

Trainees will be required to agree to a 'repayment of learning' clause whereby the trainee would be obliged to repay course costs (in full or part) should they leave the employment of the Council within 2 years of completion. This will be discussed with candidates during the interview process.

This is a critical permanent post within the structure. There will be opportunities for the successful applicant to help shape the future direction of the team and this is an exciting time to join.
