Bungay High School Academy is a thriving and successful school situated in a pleasant rural area. We are 20 miles from Norwich and 15 miles from the delightful heritage coast. We have fantastic students, great staff and a commitment to success for all. We have an excellent continuing professional development (CPD) programme and are committed to staff development.

Our values, which underpin every decision we take and the systems we use, are demonstrated in The Bungay Way, underpinned by our character virtues of RESPECT, RESILIENCE, REFLECTIVENESS and RESPONSIBIITY. We have a comprehensive student character-building programme, through which we are working towards the nationally recognised Character Quality Mark.

EAST was established on 1 September 2019. At its inception, three secondary academies were formally partnered together: Bungay, Farlingaye and Kesgrave High Schools. In 2021, EAST opened a special school in Bungay for children with interaction and communication needs, Castle EAST School. On 1 November 2023, Avocet Academy Trust’s five primary schools, Aldeburgh, Easton, Leiston, Saxmundham and Wickham Market, joined EAST to build the foundations of an excellent ‘all-phase Trust’. Our accredited provider, EAST SCITT, offers secondary and primary school-based initial teacher training, awarding Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). We see EAST SCITT as the most effective way to find and develop future teachers to work in this vibrant county. Together, we are confident that our trust provides an exciting and forward-thinking environment for staff and students alike.
