HR is part of the Corporate Services team which provides support across JNCC to managers and employees on a wide range of matters. We currently support approx. 300 employees based predominantly in Peterborough and Aberdeen. The majority of HR services are in-house except for payroll.
The key responsibilities of the role are outlined below. However, this is an overview of the role and is not exhaustive.
Job description
Post Duties�
The HR Casework and Operations Manager will ensure a high-quality HR service is provided across all aspects of the employee life cycle. You will ensure accurate and timely support is provided to the Head of HR, HR Business Partners, Team leaders and Directors and your typical duties may include some or all of the following:
Managing a caseload of employment relations cases ( attendance management, probation period support) and supporting HRBPs with more complex casework and preparation for meetings with Team LeadersLine management of a small operational HR team, ensuring workloads are balanced across the team members and that individuals are developed in their roles.Supporting HR team members with escalated/more complex HR queries relating to recruitment, terms and conditions, policy and processes.Regularly monitor own and team�s work against milestones or targets ensuring a high-quality service is provided to our internal customers, and act promptly to keep work on track and maintain performance. �Demonstrate a pragmatic attitude, taking responsibility for personal development and contributing to growth within the team.Reviewing processes & templates to ensure continuous improvement and to support JNCC�s strategic objectives and changes in employment legislationEnsure the use of the HR information system and management reporting tools are optimised and data is accurateOverseeing internal pay administration, ensuring pay is processed on time and errors are rectified and account management of outsourced payroll, liaising via the Defra Group shared servicesOverseeing audit activity, ensuring relevant data is collated and recommendations are put into place and being a point of contact for auditorsOversee the administration of the employee benefits schemes, including Cycle Scheme and childcare vouchersHR budget holderManaging recruitment activity, working with vacancy managers to offer advice and flexible solutions in line with the resourcing policySupport any other HR routine or project work as requiredPerson specification

Alongside your salary of �30,573, Joint Nature Conservation Committee contributes �8,866 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Leave entitlement
JNCC annual leave allowance is 25 days per annum. After five years� service, leave entitlement increases to 30 days per annum.
In addition to annual leave, JNCC offers 12 public and privilege days per annum, three of which are explicitly reserved for office closure between Christmas and New Year.
