Post Title: Assistant Ecology Officer

Location: Inverness
Hours: 35 hours per week
Duration: Fixed Term for 23 Months
Salary: £32, - £36, p.a.

Job Purpose: This position is an exciting opportunity to join the Council’s Environmental Advice and Consultancy Team, a small team that advises the Council on a range of matters relating to the natural, built and cultural environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality ecological advice to a range of Council services. The post holder will manage projects, undertake field surveys and implement mitigation and enhancement strategies, as well as input into strategy and policy in respect of the ecological and climate emergency.

Requirements

Demonstrable experience of working in a similar/equivalent role.Experience of undertaking ecological surveys, data collection/analysis and report writing, including developing mitigation strategies and appropriate recommendations.Have a Degree (or equivalent) in ecology, environmental science or a related subject.Hold European Protected Species licences, or the ability to work towards such.

Qualifications/certificate for NVCs and Phase 1 surveys, or the ability to work towards such.Hold First aid qualifications/certificates, or the ability to work towards such.Membership of CIEEM or the ability to work towards such.

Driving licence and/or access to personal transport. Ability to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Highland to meet the operational requirement of the Service.
