At Tiverton High School, the focus is on providing a well-rounded education that prepares students for success in whatever path they choose Post 16. Whether it’s further education, an apprenticeship, or directly entering the workforce, the school is committed to helping its students achieve their goals and reach their full potential.

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs. A good knowledge and understanding of students with social, emotional and mental health needs is essential, along with experience managing behaviour. You will need to have a flexible, creative and adaptable approach to inclusively support students. From time to time, you may be asked to support other students within our Communication and Interaction Resource Base (CAIRB).

ICT skills are desirable. In addition to the post offered, you will join one of our five year groups and become a mentor or tutor for a group of between 23-27 students. Training will also be provided to help you fulfil this exciting role in supporting our young people.

You will work with all stakeholders, including students and their teachers, parents and external agencies, to ensure that SEND students' needs are met within an inclusive environment that allows them to access the National Curriculum in accordance with the provisions of the SEN Code of Practice (2014) and Disability Discrimination Act.

You will receive a competitive salary and other benefits including a comprehensive staff wellbeing and benefits programme.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
