Primary Purpose of the Role:

To manage and coordinate all Trials Activities at the Turnchapel Wharf Site

Principal Relationships:

As a lead in the Thales Systems IVVQ Engineering process, you will interact with the following key roles:

  • Designers at all levels
  • Bid team members
  • Project team members
  • Supply Chain members
  • Commercial team members
  • Testing team members at all levels
  • Installation team members
  • Project Planners
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Other Functional Managers at all levels
  • Major Stakeholder

Reports to:
  • Programme Engineering Delivery Manager (UK)

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

The list below is not exhaustive, nor will individuals, be expected to be able to undertake all of them. They are given as a guide as to the expected duties of the grade.

  • Be the principal point of contact with the client, to gain approval of test specifications and to host acceptance-testing activities.
  • Manage the resources allocated each week for IVV activities in Turnchapel Warf
  • Manage the schedule and forward planning 1 to 4 weeks detailed plan of testing events and their needs
  • Arrange external supporting activities
  • Manage the in-feeds into the wider team of activities that are planned and report subsequent progress against them
  • Produce the weekly plan for the trials Lead to execute
  • Liaise with the Platform Owners to understand the limitations and capabilities for platforms when conducting planned tests
  • Liaise with Problem Reporting (PR) Manager and or Supplier Support to schedule PR rectification and investigation work
  • Ensure that the configuration of the vessels is maintained when items are replaced or repaired

Expected Competence Level:

Skills (underpinning Knowledge)

  • Trials Management with Human and Physical Resource allocation
  • Able to use a range of IT tools.
  • Has a sound ability to use and/or assess System IVVQ Engineering tools.
  • Has knowledge of configuration control.
  • Can define and interpret IVVQ metrics as part of Quality control.
  • Project Planning.
  • Has a working knowledge of Engineering Safety Management

Experience:

  • The Turnchapel Wharf IVVQ Trials Manager is first point of contact for all Trials activities and process
  • The lead in resolving all issues, problems, questions and conflicts for trials activities. This requires frequent handling of new and unusual issues; therefore a proven record of leading a Systems IVVQ Engineering environment is required.

• The post holder should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels in the spoken and written word. A good outward appearance, self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure are vital.

• The success of the Systems IVVQ Engineering job family relies on the interaction of its engineers at all levels, therefore good evidence of leading a team is required.

Desirable Qualifications and Certification:

  • HND/STEM Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent.

Essential:

  • Have attained, or working towards an appropriate professional status or equivalent

Financial / Budgetary Responsibility:

The post holder will be expected to deliver designs/projects to an agreed budget.
