Hourly rate of pay: £14.85 - £15.91

East Lothian Council seek to appoint a positive, resilient and inclusive individual for the position of Pupil Support Worker, at Rosehill High School. The building opened for over BGE pupils in August , and is set to rapidly increase year on year, with a projected role of around from August . Our senior phase will also begin in August .

The new secondary learning facility is designed to support creative approaches to learning, with a range of adaptive teaching spaces. Alongside up to date and digitally enabled classrooms, there is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) wing, a Learning Resource Centre, extensive facilities to support the arts, and a state of the art sport and leisure complex. Learning and teaching on the campus goes beyond the traditional classroom and encompasses outdoor learning and sustainability. The campus also includes a number of community and health spaces to support collaboration between a range of professionals and sectors.

Our Pupil Support Workers are an important and valued part of our integrated Pupil Support Team. They work particularly closely with our House Heads and Curriculum Leader for Support for Learning, as well as the wider teaching team.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they can:

Communicate clearly and kindly with young people to help reduce any barriers to presence, participation and achievement in school Work as part of the team around children with a range of learning needs, building and maintaining strong relationships in the wider school community Exhibit the interpersonal skills required to play a full part in safeguarding and nurturing young people, offering the right balance of challenge and support Use their initiative and work responsively to meet the needs of the young people in their care Commit to viewing themselves as a lifelong learning, seeking out and taking up opportunities to continually improve their practice
