An exciting opportunity has arisen in Nottinghamshire County Council’s Health Related Education Team (HRET) for a 0.8 (4 days) permanent specialist teacher post. 

This post covers the North of the County: Bassetlaw, Newark & Sherwood, Mansfield and Ashfield and for this reason daily access to a car is essential. 
Working under the guidance of the HRET Locality Lead for North Nottinghamshire, you will be responsible for the effective delivery of Nottinghamshire County Council’s statutory duties in relation to children who are unable to access school due to health and medical needs.

You will be responsible for advising staff in schools and other settings on appropriate strength-based adjustments, strategies and provision for those children and young people who are unable to attend school due to physical, medical and mental health needs. You will be required to also teach in different settings and online. 

Close liaison with parents/carers, schools and partner agencies in the Local Authority and Health forms a key part of the role. 

You will be maintaining accurate data and information related to children with medical and health needs requiring or receiving support from HRET, and producing accurate reports, recommendations and information for senior officers, parents/carers, schools and others as required. You will be developing and maintaining expert knowledge in relation to health-related education, special educational needs and school attendance.

You will have:
• Qualified teacher status
• A minimum of 3 years post-qualification teaching experience
• A high level of personal drive and commitment to excellent customer care and the ability to set an example for other staff
• Knowledge and experience of working with children with emotional based school avoidance 
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Willingness to teach at all key stages where needed (KS1-4)
• Ability to work independently, make decisions and solve problems
• Knowledge and understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and how it is implemented in schools
• Ability to meet agreed objectives and delivery targets by the effective use of resources 


The team is based at the HRET building on the Fountaindale School site (NG18 5BB). Teaching sessions can be in the pupil’s home, school, HRET Base or community setting.
