It is an exciting time for Alternative Provision in East Sussex as we embark on a collaborative journey of systemic transformation and improvement.

Working in partnership with East Sussex County Council and SABDEN Multi Academy Trust, London South East Academies Trust (LSEAT) is seeking committed, dynamic and talented staff to join its team at College Central – which will become East Sussex Academy (part of LSEAT) later this year.

Our school provides education for 4–16-year-olds who have been excluded from mainstream settings across the county. Demand for this provision has increased dramatically since the pandemic, creating many challenges and resulting in a need for the school to significantly improve.

To secure a successful future for staff and pupils, a transfer process is now underway – we (LSEAT) are working closely with the existing providers to ensure a smooth transition.

This will include relocating the school to improved, purposeful buildings within the area, which are better suited to the needs of pupils. We are also focused on expanding and strengthening our staff teams across the school.

We are now seeking to recruit a SENCO to work with the Outreach team on a consultancy basis to join us at this exciting time.

Ideally qualified to NPQ level you will be experienced within this environment. The SENCO has an important role to play in determining the strategic development of SEND policy and provision at the school, and in the day-to-day coordination of specific provision that is made to support all our students. You will be responsible for providing professional guidance to colleagues and will work closely with staff, parents, and a range of external agencies in providing a support role to families.

We are looking for an experienced mainstream SENCO with particular experience of supporting vulnerable pupils, to join the team on a zero hours contract which will allow flexible part-time hours, with a view to supporting the service in its development. The role will include some travelling to different schools and also liaising with families and other professionals through the multi-agency process. There will be opportunities to work in different areas and locations, remote working from home will also be available on some occasions.

If successful, you will be employed initially by London South East Academies Trust.

You will be ambitious and aspirational for your pupils, with drive and determination to improve outcomes for all. In return, you will be joining a hardworking team that is committed to successful change and transformation; with a shared vision of improving lives through the power of learning. We place the outcomes of our pupils at the center of everything we do so you will come to work each day knowing that your role will have a significant positive impact on the lives of others.

Please note CVs will not be accepted. Please follow the link to apply.
