Divisional Accountant

Full Time Contract ( 3 months long)

Novax Recruitment is actively seeking an Accountant in Southwark. This is a contract working full time hours.

Responsibilities include:

• Provision of high quality information and appropriate financial advice to the organisations and senior officers
• Assisting in ensuring compliance with the council's overall regulatory framework
• Ensuring the continuous improvement of the quality of financial monitoring and reporting, to enhance decision-making processes
• Participating in regular meetings of officer groups to discuss organisation-wide or departmental revenue and capital issues.
• Assisting in the establishment, monitoring and control of corporate or departmental budgets.

Experience and skills required:

• Previous employment in the public sector in a similar role is essential
• Previous experience dealing with social care issues as they relate to accounting is essential
• AAT or studying for CCAB qualification OR Relevant experience at a proven level is essential
• Experience of maintenance of financial records, financial planning, provision of financial information to enable effective decision making, financial monitoring & forecasting and financial reporting
• Effective application of a computerised financial information system and effective use of ICT applications in the workplace
