The Donmar Warehouse makes unmissable, exceptional productions of classic plays, new works by leading writers, and intimate musicals to thrill and inspire audiences. In converted Covent Garden warehouse space, in the heart of London's West End, audiences experience the power of live performance up close, sitting no more than four rows away from the action.

Being part of the producing and casting teams, during the traineeship you will gain an understanding of working in a busy producing department, develop knowledge and skills around casting, liaise with the artistic team, and undertake administrative duties. You will grow and build relationships across a range of departments and learn from highly experienced team members and artists.

The role will work closely with the Senior Producer, Casting Director, Assistant Producer and Company Stage Manager to support the delivery of casting, workshops and readings and will deliver production and casting based admin across all productions.

This traineeship will allow you to develop the core skills needed to apply for junior vacancies in the industry, including relevant positions at Donmar Warehouse.

Producing

Providing admin support across productions, including drafting of contracts and emails, tracking of expenses, creation of contact sheets and managing department databases and correspondenceDrafting and administration of contracts and processes, supported by the Assistant ProducerArranging travel and accommodation for creative teams and company membersAdministration of payrolls and other financial transactions, with support from the Assistant ProducerEnsuring consistent and accurate internal communication of planning and production information as appropriateBooking rehearsal spacesAdministration of Press Nights, working closely with the Assistant ProducerSupporting Stage Management teams as required Casting Providing admin support to the department, including managing up-to-date databases and answering casting enquiries Drafting correspondence and checking actor availabilityResearching actors for new projects and readingsDrafting character breakdownsReading and analysing scripts for Casting and LiteraryAdministration of actor listsAdministration of taped auditionsSetting up auditions including booking spaces, admin of auditions including preparation of audition materialsRunning and supporting auditions Supporting preparations and delivery of script readings and workshops in house Ensuring consistent and accurate internal communication of casting information as appropriateAttending showcases, readings and performances on behalf of the Donmar and reporting back What we are looking for A desire to pursue a career in the artsPassion for theatre and making creative workUnderstanding of casting processes on projectsAn eagerness to learn and develop new skillsAttention to detail in all work, with excellent administration and organisational skillsAdaptable approach to work, with the ability to work at speed and under time constraintsAbility to use initiative and work as part of a busy teamExperience of working in an office context, either as a volunteer, work experience or employeeAbility to plan your workload and meet deadlinesGood communication and an ability to get along with a variety of peopleAbility to prioritise, work well under pressure and adapt to new situationsA 'can-do' attitudeGood IT skills, with sound knowledge of Google software (Gmail, Google Drive)Willingness to work outside of core office hours on a regular basis (time off in lieu will be given to make up for any out of hours work)There are no academic requirements for this role; instead, we're looking for candidates with a passion for theatre.
