We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Teacher of Science who is knowledgeable and passionate about their subject

Our Science Department are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dedicated Science Teacher with a love of education to join the team to encourage all students to make progress in this subject no matter their ability. There are currently eight highly committed teachers who strive for excellence, enjoying a range of traditional and progressive methodology and contributing to the academic life of the school.

The Science Department is a well-resourced department, with a team of science technicians in its own dedicated building. The department run a variety of trips for all year groups each academic year such as 'GCSE Science Live' and Winchester Science Museum. The team also run a variety of STEAM activities both in school and with supplementary trips through the excellent links that they have made with businesses and organisations. There are various science clubs which include an eco-STEAM club which has access to our own private nature area on site.

We are looking to appoint a colleague who will:

Engage, enthuse, motivate and challenge students in order for them to excel academicallyHave relentlessly high expectations of themselves and studentsHave excellent subject knowledgeBe willing to teach across the full age range of students; year 7 to year 11Enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the Department and wider school through sharing resources and good practice, lesson observation, collaborative teaching, mentoring and active participation in continuing professional studies programmeTeach a standard timetable allocationMake a positive contribution to the efficient running of the Department, including, setting and marking examinations, attending departmental meetings and undertaking administrative and other tasks as delegated by the Head of DepartmentActively safeguard and promote the welfare of childrenSupport the schools' aims and objectives for teaching and learningAdhere to and promote all school policies and proceduresPerson Specification:Good level degree in a directly related subject (desirable)Thorough knowledge of the subject Curriculum (GCSE)Recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, or equivalent experienceAwareness of Safeguarding requirements and good practiceGood level of IT literacyBe capable of delivering inspirational and informative lessons to the full age and ability range of pupils at the schoolBe able to demonstrate a positive and authoritative rapport with studentsExcellent and effective classroom management skillsHave excellent communication skills to enable effective dialogue with pupils, parents, staff and visitorsBe organised and self-motivated, with a proven record for meeting targets and deadlinesIn return you can expect:Access to an exceptional Professional Studies ProgrammeAccess to CPD from PiXL, Hampshire Local Authority, Subject Specific CPD and an in-house CPDBespoke Science in house CPDTo be part of a school which has a real 'team approach' where you will be valued and supportedA dedicated Behaviour Team that supports teachers with behaviour around the school site daily, run internal exclusions and detentionsAccess to the RAS (Raising Aspirations Team) who help and support students pastorally.
