About the role

The position of Music Teacher offers an exciting opportunity for a talented individual. The successful applicant, whether an NQT or experienced teacher, should bring enthusiasm and passion to inspire students across Year 7 to Year 13.

The Music Department is currently staffed by a full-time Director of Music, a part-time teacher of Music and a part-time teacher of Music Technology. There are also 10 peripatetic members of staff who work part-time to teach instrumental and singing lessons. The department is well-equipped with a purpose-built, galleried Recital Room with a baby grand piano, a Music Technology suite with 13 iMacs, a dedicated Recording Studio running Logic Pro X and a Practical/Performance Room with a class set of keyboards, djembes and samba drums. The department also contains a selection of practice rooms, including a dedicated Drum Room. Many concert performances take place in the school's John Crook Theatre.

Music is compulsory for all Key Stage 3 students and is offered as GCSE and A Level options following the Edexcel specifications. We also offer Music Technology as an A level option, again following the Edexcel specification. In 2023, Music GCSE achieved 100% 9-5 and Music A Level achieved 100% A*- A. The Music Department also offers trips to recording studios, classical concerts, West End musicals and an international trip for the Orchestra and Chamber Choir.
