Project detail:
The UK has invested significant funding to transition quantum theories into quantum products to create a quantum-enabled economy within the next 10 years, to revolutionise healthcare, energy, transport, and many other sectors.
Working closely with the National Physical Laboratory, these projects will aim to develop novel approaches, methods and tools to engineer and integrate revolutionary quantum technologies, for example, embedding quantum sensors, clocks and encryption in a quantum communication network.
The projects are suitable for students who have either an engineering or a physics background. The programme includes formal teaching in model-based systems engineering from Loughborough Systems Engineering experts and industrial leaders. The project will include the opportunity for collaboration on solving complex systems problems.
By completing the PhD programme, you will become a future thought leader in a rapidly growing area of technology.
Entry requirements:
A minimum of an upper-class honours degree (2:1) or overseas equivalent in a STEM subject area, or equivalent relevant industrial experience.
English language requirements:

Funding information:
The PhD studentship which is provided by EPSRC is for 3.75 years and provides a tax-free stipend of £21,237 per annum including a £2k enhancement for the duration of the studentship plus university tuition fees at the UK rate.
Excellent International candidates are eligible for a full international fee waiver however due to UKRI funding rules, no more than 30% of the studentships funded by this grant can be awarded to International candidates.
