About the role:

We are currently seeking a Maths Support Tutor to join The Bedford College Group at the Bedford College Sixth Form.

As a Maths Support Tutor, you will play a pivotal role in the success of the students through:

  • Providing maths support for cross sixth form GCSE and A Level students to address individual mathematical skill gaps.
  • Supporting and guiding students to achieve success and realise their academic potential.
  • Managing students' learning and provide a high-quality learning experience.
  • Supporting the improvement of outcomes for A Level and GCSE programmes.
  • Supporting students in subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics and Psychology, by offering bespoke mathematical skill development.
  • Coordinating initial diagnostic assessment for GCSE students to help support and design bespoke programmes of study.
  • Providing support for Entry Tests (TMUA and MAT) for the students in Year 1, plus guiding the students and supporting them throughout their application for those exams in Year 2.
  • Recording attendance and learning for each session.

About you:

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Relevant degree and/or level 5 qualification in maths or working towards a degree in maths
  • GSCE Maths and English (grades A to C or 9 to 5) or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the current developments in maths
  • Experience of developing strategies for better learning and addressing difficulties in maths
  • Evidence of understanding how to promote equality and diversity within the job role
  • Ability to encourage, support, and challenge students to meet their academic targets
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently face to face, on the telephone and in writing
  • Willingness continuously to update skills and knowledge
