Dagenham, Greater London, United Kingdom Barking & Dagenham London Borough Council Full time

Barking and Dagenham is an amazing place. One of the most ethnically and culturally diverse communities in the UK; there is a commitment to make it a place where people are proud of and want to live, work, study and stay. As the fastest growing (population) in London and positive change taking place, there has never been a better time to further your career in a place you can make a real difference.

Our Finance team has recently restructured to increase resource capability, ensuring that the right talent is in place to navigate through these challenging times.

A pivotal leadership role supporting the Strategic Director of Resources (S151 officer), essentially operating as Director of Finance (Deputy S151). You will provide the strategic leadership and direction for corporate finance. The Council has an investment portfolio of £2bn, with plans to build 20,000 new homes in 20 years utilising 14 subsidiary companies. This is not a business-as-usual role. There is also a strong commercial feel to this position.

The remit will cover complex financial strategy and policy related to treasury management, annual investment, and capital planning; this is a broad, commercial, strategic leadership opportunity.
