Role Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic post-doctoral researcher to work closely with Indigenous communities and scholars exploring the governance of water systems in the face of climate change.

About the Role

The primary purpose of this role is to help deliver a project entitled Sharing our Knowledge: Incorporating Indigenous Knowledge Systems to build Governance for Climate Resiliency. This innovative international collaboration provides a unique opportunity to work closely with Indigenous communities, and leading Indigenous scholars, to explore climate change risks in water systems, as well as different governance and stewardship approaches to support adaptation and resilience. In addition to developing your own skills as a researcher, you will be strongly encouraged to undertake mentoring and capacity building activities with more junior researchers, and (where appropriate) with external stakeholders.

About You

You will have completed (or be close to completion) a PhD in a relevant discipline, and you will possess a strong background in qualitative or mixed method social research, suitable for exploratory work with a community-based, co-development lens. Experience working in international and multi-cultural teams is essential. You will also have experience with, and enthusiasm for, interdisciplinary work at the interface with natural science, engineering and governance in water systems. Knowledge of freshwater systems at Northern latitudes is an asset. Candidates with close ties to Indigenous peoples, Indigenous knowledge systems and environmental governance are strongly encouraged to apply.
