DHL, an award-winning leading supply chain business is seeking a Transport First Line Manager to play a vital role coordinating our daily logistics requirements. To succeed in this role, you should have a comprehensive knowledge of supply chain supervisory practices and a demonstrative understanding of transport operations.
- To supervise, implement and coordinate productivity by communicating job expectations to direct line reports, ensuring that all deadlines are safely met within allocated time frames, while always maintaining standards of excellence
- Ensure drivers are legal and compliant on a daily and weekly basis and ensure clear communication between all functions within the transport department and the warehouse team
- To lead the work activities of the drivers and the transport clerical team, providing effective leadership, communication, motivation, training and development
- Carrying out HR Management tasks such as staff reviews, appraisals, absence management and disciplinaries.
WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?
- Must have people management experience within transport - this can be from a Step Up or Cover Supervisor role
- Computer literate with a practical knowledge of logistics software packages - must have Microsoft Office experience and ideally Tachomaster and Microlise experience
- CPC is desirable but not essential
- Excellent knowledge of Working Time Directive and Drivers Hours
- Strong communication skills - across various stakeholders, including customers
