We are looking for a hardworking, ambitious and dynamic Vice Principal to join Harris Academy Wimbledon at this exciting time. You will have excellent opportunities to engage in wider Harris Federation academy improvement and professional development activities.

The Vice Principal will be a well-qualified specialist, holding QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, you will have the ability to teach from KS3 to KS5. We are looking for a strong communicator with proven skills in engaging with, inspiring and motivating, not just the school community but the wider community.About Us

We are an 'Outstanding' (Ofsted 2023) secondary academy, established in 2018 to provide an excellent education for children in Wimbledon. With our new Sixth Form that opened last year, we will soon have a full cohort of students aged 11-18.

Two years after opening, we moved into our brand-new building which is modern, bright and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities in every area of the curriculum. We are oversubscribed and fortunate to have an amazing level of support from the community with waiting lists for entry into every year group of our academy.

Harris Academy Wimbledon promotes high levels of academic achievement across the curriculum, encourages participation in extra-curricular opportunities and empowers students to make decisions wisely. The curriculum is rich, diverse and personalised ensuring every student achieves his or her true potential. Academic success goes hand-in hand with a rich variety of enrichment and extra-curricular activities; these help foster a spirit of aspiration, resilience and joy in learning.

Professional learning is at the heart of the academy, supporting all staff in their development. The academy has a growth mindset approach where industry and commitment are seen as cultural virtues. Main Areas of Responsibility

We are happy to negotiate individual responsibilities with you, but these could involve:

Overseeing the strategic management of data, assessment and target setting (including reporting achievement data to governors and external bodies as required), working with the Principal to set challenging and aspirational whole academy targets.Leading on teaching, learning and assessment across the academy, providing the necessary Professional Learning opportunities to ensure the highest of standards are maintained in the classroom and in student outcomes.Leading on effective behaviour and inclusion, ensuring that the needs of all students are met within and beyond the classroom. As a member of the Academy Leadership Group, you will need to meet these general expectations: To collaborate to build and realise the shared vision of excellence and high standardsTo play a major role in determining strategyTo contribute actively towards the formulation and implementation of all academy policies and proceduresTo agree challenging subject targets, and ensure rigorous monitoring, evaluation and review of progress towards theseTo ensure high quality teaching and learning in line managed facultiesTo manage delegated budgets effectivelyTo attend academy leadership meetingsTo engage in the process of appointing new staffTo participate in duties lunch/break/before and after schoolTo contribute to assembliesTo share in the management of student disciplinary incidentsTo actively participate in the monitoring, evaluation and review of teaching and learning in line managed facultiesQualifications & Experience

We would like to hear from you if you have:

QTS and a good undergraduate degree (or equivalent)Minimum of three years' experience at senior leadership level, at least once as a deputy/ Vice PrincipalExperience of delivering high quality INSET to teaching staffProven success in raising achievement as a subject leader across at least two key stagesEvidence of leading, supporting and managing others, both individuals and teams, ensuring high quality performanceSuccessful experience of processes of monitoring, evaluation and reviewGood level of ICT skills and experience of how new technologies can be used to raise achievementRecent experience of involvement in innovative curriculum developmentExperience of presenting to a wide audienceIdeas of how Language, Literacy and Numeracy can be used across the curriculum to raise standardsExperience of embedding innovative strategies for improving teaching and learning in a whole school situationExperience of managing and implementing change successfully at whole school levelExperience of using coaching as a model for ensuring on going professional development particularly with subject leadersNext Steps
