The NWSLC estates team is looking for a technician to assist in ensuring that the college' premises remains fit-for-purpose.



The Technician will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance and operations of the college, including opening and closing the premises, keyholder services, carrying out minor maintenance repairs and compliance tasks, topping up consumables, litter picking and porter services.

What skills are we looking for:

  • Flexible - you must be able to adapt to the changing scenarios and tasks presented at any time.
  • Hardworking - Must be willing to remain active and busy to ensure we continue to provide a service to the college.
  • Team worker - you need to be able to work as part of a team to ensure continuity of service as shift patterns crossover and all tasks requiring multiple operatives are completed.
  • Able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities for the role:

  • Ensuring the security of the site - including unlocking site, securing the site (doors/windows/gates, alarms etc.), as well as working in line with the college's safeguarding policies/procedures for example: challenging unknown visitors.
  • First line maintenance of fixtures and fittings - for example: tightening screws on window hinges, maintenance on door handles, minor repairs as a temporary measure after vandalism, lightbulb changing, hanging whiteboards, painting walls etc.
  • Cleaning/Maintenance – to clear blockages, ensure site remains clear of litter, ensure correct disposal of waste including recyclables and hazardous waste etc.
  • Other services – contractor liaison for site inductions and to enable services, report of emergencies with gas, water, electrics etc. porter tasks such as furniture moving/removal, setup of exams or other college events.
