About the role:

We are looking for a Group Manager to join our Libraries and Learning Resources department at our Bedford campus. As a Group Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the success of our students through:

  • Developing and Implementing a programme of curriculum study skills sessions within the Library & Learning Resources Department to support the curriculum.
  • Leading the group Library staff in promoting and teaching study skills within the BCG Library service, to support learning and enable students to achieve their potential.
  • Developing and managing a range of integrated self-study resources covering a variety of curriculum strands and to enable student development.
  • Supporting the group Library staff to deliver research and study skills required for assignments and essays
  • Monitoring book stock to support the curriculum needs and to maintain consistency and currency across all sites
  • Managing, supporting and developing staff working at the Bedford Campus Library.

About you:

  • Experience of working effectively in a customer focused environment
  • Experience of training / teaching groups
  • Understanding the needs of learners at all levels, from Foundation to HE, and at all ages
  • Experience of providing advice 1:1 and to groups
  • Evidence of leading and managing a team in previous roles/jobs
  • Experience of working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Evidence of understanding how to promote equality and diversity within the job role
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to make a positive contribution to the team, valuing and respecting others' expertise and contribution
  • Ability to promote our excellent reputation and carry out our business appropriately and professionally at all times

About The Bedford College Group
The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.

Today, the Group is made up of a family of colleges across Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire: Bedford College, Central Bedfordshire College and Tresham College in the towns of Bedford, Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard, Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough; Shuttleworth College, a specialist land-based college; The Bedford Sixth Form, (the only dedicated sixth form in Bedford); The Corby Sixth Form, (opened in September 2023); and the National College for Motorsport alongside Silverstone race circuit. To widen accessibility to education and training, the Group also has community-based Learning Centres in Bedford, Corby and Kettering which offer IT training.
