Join the UK Collaborative on Development Research (UKCDR) and play a key role in promoting coherence and collaboration in international research.

Job Overview:

As a key member of the UKCDR team, you will implement, enhance, and contribute to the development of UKCDR's projects under the data mapping, analysis, and foresight pillar of the strategy – you will work primarily on the Mapping ODA Research and Innovation (MODARI) and climate change research projects, under the leadership of the Senior Data Analyst. You will work on large data sets, cleaning, coding, as well as mapping and analysis work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Senior Data Analyst to access data and government systems, the post-holder will be responsible for routine data management and will review operation of tools, implement improvements, and contribute to the expansion of MODARI and climate change research tracker projects, respectively.
  • Analysis and coding of data to various established categorisation systems.
  • Undertake specific repeat analyses (using established methodology) to contribute to the updates of data and publications for relevant data projects (primarily MODARI and climate change research tracker projects).
  • Support the UKCDR Executive Director and other staff to provide research and policy advice to UKCDR member organisations and key stakeholders.
  • Provide verbal/written briefing on policy, research, funding and delivery issues concerning research which may impact on international development outcomes.

Person Specification:

Essential

  • A first or upper second-class bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a subject relevant to the work of UKCDR.
  • Quantitative analytical expertise, including experience working with statistical and visualisation software, MS Excel and other MS Office programmes, familiarity with manipulating spreadsheets and quantitative analysis techniques.
  • Experience working on large data sets and mapping activities, including collating, cleaning and validating data, as well as record keeping/data analysis.
  • Good project management and organisational skills, with the ability to progress multiple workstreams at the same time, prioritise work effectively, and meet deadlines.

Desirable

  • Qualifications relating to coding, data analysis and/or project management.
  • Post-graduate qualification relevant to international development.
  • Demonstrable experience in a research, funding or policy role relevant to science and/or international development, e.g. government, Research Council, NGOs (Non-Government Organisations), higher education, or consultancy.
