Are you looking for a new challenge in a busy team delivering positive outcomes?

We are looking for caring and compassionate person to help provide housing and homelessness advice with a keen eye on early intervention and prevention.

Reporting directly to the Newcastle Housing Advice Team Leader, the main duties of this role are to interview persons presenting as homeless or threatened with homelessness, working with them to identify options and a housing plan including access to private sector accommodation, registered social housing, specialist supported housing and low cost home ownership.

The service operates an out of hours call out service which the role will become part of. If you feel you have the resilience, spirit and drive to take on a challenge, then this could be the job for you.

Requirements

  • Ideally you will have previous experience and knowledge of relevant housing legislation, statutory guidance, case law, policy and practice.
  • That you can demonstrate a positive approach working with customers seeking housing solutions
  • Proven negotiation and advocacy skills and be an excellent communicator who can work with customers and third parties in an objective yet compassionate manner
  • A robust but caring person with an ability to adapt your communication style
  • An organised and methodical approach and have the confidence to work on your own initiative
