JOB PURPOSE

Burberry is seeking a seasoned Senior Fabric Developer to join our dynamic team in London. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Design and Sourcing to oversee fabric development and supply, ensuring alignment with design requirements and collection guidelines while managing budget constraints.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Extensive expertise in technical fabric development, research, testing, performance standards, and sustainability attributes
  • Proficiency in fabric treatments and finishes at both fabric and garment levels
  • Establishing and nurturing fruitful relationships with vendors, gaining a deep understanding of their capabilities and capacities to meet deadlines
  • Exploring and innovating new materials and technologies based on design inputs
  • Collaborating closely with the design team to execute developments and proto launches in line with creative directives
  • Demonstrating agility and promptness in addressing design needs efficiently
  • Maintaining awareness of the fabric development critical path, ensuring adherence to deadlines, and proactively addressing any issues
  • Coordinating production meetings and overseeing technical requirements for prototypes and samples in preparation for production
  • Ensuring fabric quality, creative integrity, and cost-effectiveness to achieve target margins
  • Guaranteeing product functionality and suitability for customers, brand, and business through proactive risk assessment and action
  • Fostering a close partnership with Design, serving as the technical liaison to ensure design vision translates into products
  • Engaging with Product Engineering teams to test products to relevant standards, utilizing technical knowledge and negotiating changes while preserving design integrity
  • Leading a team of fabric developers/assistants, managing their tasks and workloads effectively
