Postdoctoral Research Associate in Computational Biochemistry/Drug Design

About the role
We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join Prof Philip Biggin's lab in collaboration with Prof Simon Newstead (Oxford Biochemistry) and Prof Chris Schofield (Oxford Chemistry) to develop a computational pipeline to help design antibiotics with improved uptake into humans. This builds on a substantial body of work already performed by this team using a combination of advanced computational techniques, structural biology and chemical synthesis.
This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the BBSRC for up to three years in the first instance.
The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.

About you
The successful candidate will work very closely with a second Postdoctoral Research Associate in Professors Simon Newstead and Chris Schofield lab who will be performing chemistry synthesis and biochemical assays.
You should hold a PhD/DPhil or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil in Biochemistry, Chemistry or related subject and preferably with a strong computational component.
You should be able to demonstrate competence and success in your thesis research (and postdoctoral work if appropriate). You are expected to have substantial experience of free energy calculations, as well as GitHub or similar code repository and experience of Python. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication., present research proposals and results are also essential. Proven HPC skills, as well as experience of QM/MM calculations are also an important to the role.
