UTURN Contextual Safeguarding Team work with children and young people at risk of or experiencing Contextual Harm. Our work centres on the importance of creating safety in relationships and reducing contextual harm to the child or young person. We offer a non-judgemental and trauma informed intensive support, which focuses on what the child/ young people / young adults' behaviour is telling us about their lived experience. Our work is bespoke, consent based for non-statutory cases and service user led. This means that we will work hard to find creative ways to engage with all young people who are referred to us and work creatively with them in their communities and environments in a way that promotes safety. We work with young people subject to a Child in Need, Child Protection Plans and Children Looked After with Contextual Harm Risks. UTURN works with the local community and agencies both voluntary and statutory to provide projects to reduce the risk of contextual harm in specific identified areas.

The role of Consultant Social Worker within the UTURN Team offers some direct work via projects and supporting the Team Manager and the team in the adoption of Contextual Safeguarding approaches with communities, statutory and voluntary agencies. The role gives opportunities to further develop skills in management and supervision of staff.

Social Workers can develop their project planning skills, deliver training to internal teams and external partners, and access developmental courses as part of ongoing professional development. You will be well supported by experienced permanent Team Managers and Service Managers/Head of Services
