The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK's climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

We're looking for an Environmental Assurance Lead, to spearhead our environmental assurance efforts on one of the UK's most ambitious and impactful projects.

About the Role

As the Environmental Assurance Lead, you will be the go-to expert for environmental assurance within the Sizewell C project. Leading a team of dedicated environmental engineers, you will ensure the project's compliance with environmental standards across the design, procurement, and construction phases.

Your responsibilities will involve performing environmental assurance, developing risk-based audit processes, leading investigations into environmental incidents, and presenting findings to senior leaders and regulators.

Additionally, you will develop environmental performance data, recommend corrective actions, influence key stakeholders, and serve as the interface with the Environment Agency and other regulators.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will lead environmental assurance activities across all stages of the project, develop and maintain robust audit and surveillance processes, and ensure compliance with the Development Consent Order (DCO), Code of Construction Practice (CoCP), and other environmental permits and consents. You will act as a technical advisor and intelligent customer within the environmental domain, leading environmental performance reviews, audits, and the implementation of corrective actions.

What We're Looking For

We seek candidates with a background in environmental science or a related discipline, proven experience in team leadership and environmental audits, strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills, excellent communication and influencing abilities, and experience with ISO14001 environmental management systems.

Preferred qualifications include membership in a relevant professional body, experience with large infrastructure projects and regulatory compliance, and knowledge of construction site environmental management practices.

Join us in making a lasting positive impact on both the environment and the economy.
