We are recruiting for motivated qualified social worker to join our busy team. This role is with one of the UK's highest performing local authorities, serving as one of the best places to live and work in.

This is a qualified role requiring you to be SWE registered and have relevant experience within children's services.

This role sits within the Early Help and Youth Support service, with a clear link to Assessment & Intervention.

Main purpose of the job:
  • To provide professional and comprehensive casework to a caseload of children and young people, some of which will be complex and sensitive cases all will require the highest of professional standards and in depth knowledge of relevant legislation regulation and practice methods.
  • To undertake responsibility for some areas of work in the day to day running of the team including supervision of identified team members.
Key Responsibilities:
  • To provide an efficient and cost effective service to children, young people and their families, ensuring that the needs of the children and their parents/carers are professionally assessed.
  • To provide consultation on casework and contribute to the development of colleagues within the team and where appropriate the wider service by virtue of being an experienced and reliable practitioner.
  • To undertake responsibility for some areas of work in the day to day running of the team and supervision of team members.
  • To be familiar with Equal Opportunities good practise and the Council requirements for diversity and to implement this in all aspects of working practice and promote it in the team, workplace and wider organisation.
  • To investigate, evaluate and analyse information on cases, demonstrating clarity of assessment, reliability of information, evidences conclusions and realistic action plans. Ensure adequate recording that evidences practice.
  • To ensure that all case management complies with the statutory requirements and the Council's policies and procedures
  • To identify service enhancements and support the culture of continuous improvement.
  • To prepare and submit written reports as and when required, including statements and care plans for care proceedings in the Family Proceedings, County and High Courts.
  • To recommended expenditure within strict criteria and policy.
  • To represent the team, group or department on working parties and at other meetings as required.
  • To ensure the Team Manager is kept fully appraised of problems arising from workload and seek advice as and when necessary.
  • Where appropriate acting as the duty worker, responding to queries and issues on all cases currently being managed by the team.
  • To supervise social workers as required and to deputise for the Team Manager in all or some of their functions as required in their absence.
  • To use ICT as required to maintain accurate case records, and to be able to report on key performance management data.
