The Opportunity...

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) established in 2023, is responsible for delivering the design for a number of NI buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project through an integrated team, support to HPC construction and commissioning activities, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. Therefore, a Technical Directorate is being created, responsible for the engineering disciplines and technical expertise required to deliver the different engineering projects through integrated teams in EPR-E.

For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK.

As an Equipment Group Lead, you will report to the Piping and Equipment Discipline Manager and operationally to the Equipment Managers for the HPC and SZC projects. You will lead and manage a team of Contract Engineering Leads (CELs) and Technical Engineering Leads (TELs) working on equipment contracts for the client. Your responsibilities include ensuring the accurate completion and verification of engineering deliverables, meeting technical requirements, adhering to the project schedule, and respecting the budget allocated by the equipment managers.

What you'll be doing

  • Collaborating with Piping and Equipment Discipline Manager for task assignments.
  • Ensuring engineers are SQEP in their discipline and organise necessary training.
  • Addressing under-performance with local improvement actions.
  • Conducting annual appraisals with feedback on project performance, work winning, and operations.
  • Overseeing smooth inductions for all new staff members in the discipline.
  • Providing necessary tools and support for the team to produce studies and deliverables.
  • Maintaining continuous link with JDO equipment team to share lessons learned and manage resources.
  • Managing team resources, processes, and workload for optimum performance.
  • Balancing workload, skills, and resources to ensure timely and quality deliverables.
  • Monitoring progress against deliverables and project schedules, reporting issues and recommendations.
  • Verifying technical quality and consistency of the equipment team's deliverables.
  • Ensuring applications of engineering rules and design procedures related to the project.
  • Integrating lessons learned and OPEX from other EPR projects and the UK/French Fleet.
  • Providing technical leadership and expertise to the equipment team.

Who you are

Your background may include some of the following:

  • Technically proficient in mechanical equipment, holding an engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Skilled in building strong, collaborative relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledgeable in the EPR engineering process, particularly in mechanical equipment design and engineering.
  • At least 10 years of experience in engineering, team leadership, or project management.
  • Extensive experience applying specialist technical knowledge to complex problems and effectively communicating outcomes to diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in managing a variety of stakeholders with successful influencing and negotiation skills.
