Founded during the fourteenth century, Ipswich School is regularly judged to be Suffolk's top independent school. We have over 1,100 pupils aged between 3 months and 19 years and are co-educational throughout.

The School moved to its present site overlooking Christchurch Park in 1852. We have extensive grounds, including grass and astro turf sports pitches, cricket pitches, formal gardens and amenity areas.

In this important role you will be responsible for the overall management, maintenance, care and appearance of our sports grounds and pitches, the management of all horticulture and arboriculture matters, and the maintenance of all aspects of the School's grounds.

You should hold a minimum NVQ Level 3 in Amenity Horticulture and Sports Turf Maintenance (or a relevant equivalent qualification), and it would be highly desirable for you to have expertise in cricket pitch management. You should also have excellent leadership and communication skills, together with the ability to work to deadlines and manage projects.

Typical working hours in this role will be Mondays – Fridays throughout the year, with a 'normal' daily working pattern being 7.30 am – 4.00 pm (plus at least 6 Saturdays every year). Flexibility with working hours in this role is vital, however, and you will be required to start and finish work at different times to ensure you and your team can effectively manage our school lettings and sports fixtures (which often occur outside normal school opening hours and at weekends). Flexibility is also required to manage key grounds objectives, and to reflect the demands of the different seasons.
