About the role

In this important role, you will have specific responsibilities for the design, coordination and implement of the North Somerset Healthy Schools Network Programme, including the secondary school RSHE (Relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education) Award programme.

You will contribute to the planning and delivery of the Healthy Child Programme in North Somerset and support the improvement of health, wellbeing, and development outcomes of school aged children across the six High Impact Areas.

You will have line management responsibility for some members of the Children's and Young Peoples Team and will contribute to service improvement, embedding new ways of working to improve outcomes, and reduce health inequalities in the North Somerset school aged population.

This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

This is a permanent part-time role for 29.6 hours per week. This position follows a hybrid way of working (working location flexible between home and office). The main office location will be at our Castlewood offices in Clevedon. Please be advised that this office will be closed by 2025. Consultation is currently underway to determine the new location for colleagues based in Castlewood. This will be at Weston-super-Mare or within North Somerset.

About you

You will support the Public Health Team in achieving core public health objectives: - improving health and reducing health inequalities, protecting, and improving health, and contributing to the quality of local public health services. This will be evidenced by your commitment to addressing inequalities in health and wellbeing.

You will have previous knowledge and experience supporting the development of population and community-based public health initiatives that promote children and young people's health and wellbeing. You will have qualifications to at least level 6 or above and have additional specialist and practical experience in public health, health improvement and / or teaching / school-based experience.

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support engagement with service users, stakeholders and communities.
