London, Greater London, United Kingdom Abbott Laboratories Full time

About Abbott

Abbott is a global healthcare leader, creating breakthrough science to improve people's health. We're always looking towards the future, anticipating changes in medical science and technology.

Working at Abbott

At Abbott, you can do work that matters, grow, and learn, care for yourself and family, be your true self and live a full life.

The Opportunity

In Abbott's Electrophysiology (EP) business, we're advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

We are recruiting for a Capital Equipment Service Engineer (UK) to be responsible for installs, upgrades, repairs and preventative maintenance of all legacy St. Jude Medical capital equipment in compliance with all Company, Quality & Regulatory policies and standards. The ideal location for this role would be in London.

What You'll Do

The Capital Equipment Service Engineer will cover hospitals nationally and sometimes internationally, supporting hardware/software field interventions, including system installation, preventive maintenance, calibration, upgrades, troubleshooting and repair of capital equipment sold, placed on consignment or used as demo.

Working with EMEA Capital Equipment Service team members and local sales/clinical staff on the optimal scheduling of field interventions, you will also ensure accurate documentation of these interventions and any capital equipment incidents in line with QA procedures.

Required Qualifications

Candidates will ideally hold a Bachelor's degree in electronics, engineering or a scientific discipline, with experience in a medical electronics service or related field service role and excellent electronic and mechanical engineering skills including troubleshooting.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, as well as the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with little supervision.

Experience with medical devices and software-based medical systems would be advantageous, alongside familiarity with cathlab and operating room procedures and protocol.

The ability to be flexible and respond to situations at short notice must not be underestimated – travel within the UK is a significant element of this role, with the occasional need for international travel (located in London, near a major airport a plus).

This is a fantastic opportunity to become a valued member of a highly skilled EMEA Service team. As you'd expect from an innovative global healthcare company, we offer a competitive range of benefits including excellent salaries, a fantastic defined contribution pension scheme, share ownership scheme, private healthcare, life assurance and a flexible benefits scheme.

Follow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life. Abbott is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to employee diversity.
