Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Accountant to join the finance team.
Working within a public sector organisation in Aberdeen.

Main Duties:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and management accounts
  • Support the monthend and yearend closing processes
  • Reconcile balance sheets, income statements, and other financial documents
  • Process invoices, manage accounts payable/receivable, and handle payroll tasks
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of financial reports and audits
  • Monitor and analyse financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations
  • Provide support in financial planning and analysis, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve any financial discrepancies

Person Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar accounting role is beneficial
  • Relevant qualifications in accounting, finance, or a related field are required (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Good understanding of financial regulations and public sector financial management
  • Excellent organisational and timemanagement skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
