Job Advert

Larbert High School is a six-year non-denominational school providing secondary education for 2,054 pupils and is the largest non-denominational Secondary in Scotland. The associated primary schools are Airth, Carron, Carronshore, Kinnaird, Larbert Village, Ladeside and Stenhousemuir with whom there are excellent working relationships. We also have an additional specialist ASC provision for 36 young people.

The school has a complement of around 140 FTE teaching staff and a highly dedicated team of over 45 support staff. Our Senior Leadership Team (SLT), led by our Headteacher, comprises of 6 Depute Headteachers and a Resource Manager. The Depute Headteachers and Resource Manager all have a range of strategic, curricular and operational duties in support of our core business of learning and teaching and personal support for pupils. This post has arisen due to the current Headteacher moving to the Director of Education post in Falkirk.

The Depute Headteachers are all given extensive leadership opportunities to shape and develop school policy and practice in a range of areas, taking account of existing good practice, Falkirk Council's priorities and national guidance. Our Principal Teachers (Curriculum) are dynamic, creative and innovative and have a constant focus on high quality learning experiences, further enhanced through our Connected Falkirk strategy (1:1 devices). Our Principal Teachers (Pupil Support) are organised into well-developed Year Teams (each led by a Depute Headteacher) and provide first-class support to our young people and their families, further enhanced through a number of targeted and supported provisions in the school and involving a number of external partners. This support enabled almost ALL young people to attain, achieve and move on to a positive destination when they are ready to leave school.

Perhaps the most important feature of Larbert is its general ethos and character, exemplified by the wider curricular and enrichment opportunities afforded to our pupils, with an emphasis on the development of the whole person. All staff are encouraged to consider what they can offer in relation to this. Tryst Community Sports Club Ltd (TCSC) (one of the first sportScotland Community Sport Hubs in Scotland) offers unrivalled opportunities for our young people to lead in a number of activities across our Cluster, after-school and during holiday periods. As Headteacher you will be closely involved in the work of TCSC through our Board of Directors. This is in addition to the opportunities afforded via our Leadership Academy.

Further information about the school may be obtained from our website ( ), our App (available for download from the Apple and Google stores), our active Twitter (X) feed (@LarbertHigh) and our YouTube channel . Please note that most of our Faculties also have their own Twitter feeds.

If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership.
