Assistant Professor in Development Studies
Salary is no less than £61,446 per annum (pay award pending) and the salary scale can be found on the LSE website
The Department of International Development invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Development Studies. The tradition of Development Studies emphasizes combined economic, social, and political factors underlying development and can complement or critique mainstream development policies. This work can typically be interdisciplinary, or based in a discipline that can engage with interdisciplinary debates about the ideas, theories, and practices of international development.
We are especially interested in candidates who conduct field-based research on gender and development, China (including China's own experience of development or China's role in international development), and/or food systems and livelihoods within development.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct outstanding quality research and publish in internationally recognized outlets, contribute to core teaching on Development Studies at MSc. and Ph.D. levels, as well as to develop their own research-led specialist teaching. They will also contribute to the multidisciplinary nature of the department and intellectual life of the School through engaging in other high quality teaching as instructed by the Head of Department, and participating in the School and wider Department activities.
Ideally this role would start by 1 September 2025.
