With particular focus on four key impact themes chosen to build on the university's existing strengths and to address the most complex societal and environmental issues: Artificial Intelligence, sustainability and resilience, decarbonisation and engineering better health, this role is integral to our aim of making a lasting difference.

Imagine working in an environment where you're at the forefront of Electronics and Computer Science, pursuing your research interests and inspiring the next generation. ECS is a progressive school with a history of pushing the boundaries of what we teach our students – and what they teach us. We value and support our staff in pursuing their research and enterprise activities within their fields of interest. We have a strong interdisciplinary tradition, reflected in investments such as UKRI Centres for Doctoral Training innovating at the boundary between electronics and AI. Our reputation for research, enterprise, and teaching is quite exceptional.

The role

With our support you'll develop your academic profile in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in a relevant area such as semiconductors, computer engineering, wireless communications, electrical and electronic systems, and analogue electronics. You'll contribute to our international research profile through world-leading research, build your research team by developing bids for funding, generate research impact, and support more junior colleagues in their careers You will contribute to the development and delivery of the high-quality research-led education that we are so proud of and support our inclusive and collaborative culture.

About you

You'll need to have completed a PhD before you start, have a growing publication record, and be able to demonstrate delivery of research-led teaching that meaningfully engages students. It's essential that you have a unique vision for the research you'll lead in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and have a desire to build a strong research team to realise this vision with our support.
