Raigmore, United Kingdom NHS Highland Full time

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward thinking pharmacist to join our team. This post will be based in the Aseptic Production Unit within the Pharmacy Department in Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where you will be working as the authorized pharmacist.

The Aseptic Production Unit dispenses high quality systemic anticancer therapy items, including clinical trials, for cancer patients who are treated in hospitals all over the Highlands and beyond. We also provide parenteral nutrition to adults and neonatal patients. This is an exciting time with new opportunities and changes for the ADU while we work continuously to make sure the service we deliver meets national quality standards. You will gain extensive experience in aseptic dispensing, including practical experience which will lead to participation in the Scottish national aseptic audit programme when fully trained.

You will be embedded within the ADU team, and have the opportunity to work closely with the oncology/haematology pharmacists and dieticians.

You will be a GPhC registered pharmacist with good organisational skills and an eye for detail. You should have excellent communication and inter-personal skills and be able to work as part of a team. Experience in project management and change management is desirable. Our priority is to appoint the person most suited to develop this exciting post, and then equip you with the skills and resources to develop within the role. Your continuing professional development will be supported, including access to relevant courses and study days.

This role is exempt from on call rota but you will be required to participate in occasional weekend working and public holidays.

For an informal discussion relating to any aspect of the post please contact Anna Eschweiler, Pharmacy Team Manager, Aseptic Dispensing Services) on

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
