Role/ Department:

Audit Services is offering an exceptional opportunity for you to showcase and expand your knowledge in Corporate Finance, Accounting, and Treasury Management and join a global team of experts, whose common goal is to provide independent and objective assurance and consulting activities that assess risks and protect the assets, reputation, and sustainability of Northern Trust. We are seeking an eager partner to help enhance and grow our audit coverage of accounting, capital management, liquidity risk, payroll, and certain operations. This position is based in London, currently under a hybrid working arrangement, and you'll be expected to work closely with partners in Chicago and Manila.

Through collaboration with other team members, you will assist in the end-to-end execution of audit engagements and gain exposure to senior management across Northern Trust. Success is measured by the quality of the documentation, integrity of the assessment, timeliness of the deliveries, and your ability to foster relationships both internally in the audit department and with key stakeholders. While not required, experience in data manipulation, transformations, and reconciliations is highly desired.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Actively listen and be open to ideas and contributing ideas
  • Applies analytical skills to review information and determine potential control weaknesses
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the Northern Trust Audit Methodology and adheres to all applicable department standards
  • Perform testing in accordance to the Internal Audit Manual and producing clear and concise documentation aligning test attributes with test objectives, and connecting conclusions reached with test results
  • Completes and compiles a high quality summary of findings and recommendations for review in a concise and professional manner
  • Document walkthroughs and process flows, identifying failure points within the activity and control points to mitigate/identify failure
  • Demonstrates professional skepticism and comfort with questioning how certain processes are being performed in order to facilitate making improvements
  • Communicates with internal Audit Service partners at all levels, developing and presenting recommendations on operations and controls for the business unit or audit department

Knowledge / Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience within the banking/financial services sector or similar public accounting experience in the financial services industry
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics or Law/ Legal Management is preferred, but not required
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and/or accountancy qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is preferred
  • Knowledge of auditing techniques and approaches in the financial services industry would be an advantage
  • An ability to work in a fast paced environment as part of a global audit team across multiple time zones and jurisdictions
