The Role:

As a Senior VFX Artist at Red Rover Interactive AS, you will be a key force in creating, implementing and optimizing breathtaking visual effects that enhance gameplay and deepen immersion. This position calls will call on a blend of artistic talent and technical proficiency, alongside a passion for video games and storytelling.

You will have unmatched expertise in Unreal Engine and a proven track record in crafting game VFX, particularly for first-person shooter, survival, or battle royale games. Additionally you will:

  • Design and implement extraordinary VFX using Unreal Engine, elevating the immersive experience of our first-person shooter game.
  • Work in tandem with the art and design teams to ensure VFX not only dazzle but also enrich the game's narrative and gameplay mechanics.
  • Showcase mastery in particle systems, shaders, and Fullscreen effects to breathe life into our game's dynamic environments.
  • Engage in R&D to continually advance our VFX capabilities, keeping us at the cutting edge of gaming visuals.
  • Optimize VFX for peak performance without compromising on artistic vision, ensuring a fluid experience for our players.
We are looking for someone who:
  • Possesses a robust reel/portfolio that showcases Real-Time FX work that has been realized, Ideally from First Person Games, Shooter, Survival, Battle royale Genre
  • Critical understanding of timing, animation, and the movement of real-world objects and visual FX, with the skill to animate dramatic FX with creativity.
  • Capable of generating all necessary artwork for FX, Particle effects, Materials, Full Screen effects,..., with scripting experience in Blueprint being a beneficial addition.
  • Skilful in secondary areas such as modelling, skinning, animation, or lighting.
  • Experience with having contributed to shipped titles within the gaming industry.
  • Well-acquainted with the art pipeline of Unreal Engine 4/Unreal Engine 5.
  • Experience in Houdini, Embergen, Niagara is essential.
  • Experienced in dealing with the memory and performance limitations specific to different platforms.
In addition we expect you to have:
  • Previous experience in a similar role, with a strong portfolio highlighting your VFX contributions to successful first-person games.
  • For a position at our Newcastle office, you must possess the legal right to work in the UK. Similarly, to be eligible for a position in our Oslo office, one must have the requisite work permissions in Norway (i.e. be an EU national).
